Install the VR app yourself
Choose your headset and the desired experience – you'll get the matching file and, below it, the instructions for that exact device. You'll need a USB-C cable and a computer; the headset must be in developer mode.
1. Choose your headset
2. Choose your experience
3. Download the file
Both experiences combined
for Meta Quest 3 – both experiences in one app. After launch, a selection menu appears in the headset where you use gaze control to decide which experience to run.
Download APK132 MBwasser-fuer-kenia-vr-quest-kombiniert.apk
As of: 12.08.2026
What's in which file?
Single experience
The two individual apps each contain exactly one experience. It starts right after opening – there is no choice in the headset. This is practical in class when all students should see the same thing and no one accidentally ends up in the wrong experience.
Both combined
The combined app contains both experiences. At startup, a selection menu appears: look at the desired experience and hold your gaze there briefly – the selection is confirmed via gaze control, without any controller. This way you can switch between both experiences without installing anything new.
4. Installation step by step
Instructions for Meta Quest 3
Create a developer account with Meta
Unlike with the Pico, developer mode on the Quest can only be enabled once your Meta account belongs to a developer organization. This is free, takes just a few minutes and happens on the computer – not on the headset.
Sign in at developers.meta.com/horizon with your Meta account and create an organization in the dashboard. The name can be anything you like. Requirements are a verified Meta account and a minimum age of 18.
Enable developer mode in the Meta Horizon app
Turn on the headset and open the Meta Horizon app on your smartphone – signed in with the same account as in step 1.
Tap the headset icon in the bar, select your Quest 3 from the list and go to Headset Settings → Developer Mode. Switch the toggle to “on” and then restart the headset once.
Connect the headset to the computer
Connect the headset to the computer with a USB-C cable. Then put it on briefly: the prompt Allow USB Debugging appears. Confirm with Always allow from this computer, otherwise the transfer will fail later on.
On Windows, the Oculus ADB Driver may additionally be needed for the computer to detect the headset at all.
Transfer the APK – the easy way: SideQuest
SideQuest is a free program for Windows and Mac that handles the installation without the command line. Install and launch it with the headset connected – the status dot in the top left must turn green.
Then click Install APK file from folder and select the downloaded file. After a few seconds, SideQuest reports success.
Alternative: installation via ADB
If you prefer the command line, install the Android Platform Tools and switch to the folder with the downloaded file:
adb devices shows whether the headset is detected.
adb install -r wasser-fuer-kenia-vr-quest-kombiniert.apk installs the app.
Start the app on the headset
Self-installed apps don't appear among the regular titles. Open the Library on the headset and select the Unknown Sources entry from the menu in the top right. Wasser für Kenia appears there.
