Travel Report 2012

In 2012, we visited Ndatani Primary School together with two teachers from the Phoenix Gymnasium in Wolfsburg. The parents had built a water tank in the autumn of 2011. The construction costs of €7,500 came from a sponsored run organized by the Phoenix Gymnasium.

Although it was summer holidays, around 80 students welcomed us with dance and song. Dennis Klose and Willy Apwisch from the Phoenix Gymnasium Wolfsburg stood with the Kenyan students in front of the new water tank, which bears the Wolfsburg coat of arms.

Thanks to the clean water, illnesses caused by contaminated water in particular had declined dramatically, and the children's health had noticeably improved.

The tank reads: “Donated by students of the Gymnasium Kreuzheide-Vorsfelde in the city of Wolfsburg, Germany. Built by the parents of Ndatani Primary School and Deutsche Welthungerhilfe.” (Deutsche Welthungerhilfe is known internationally as German Agro Action.)
